A Loveable Brogue

Today’s outfit comes with some action shots of me and my cat, Jamie Lannister. As you’ll see from the pics, she LOVES being cuddled.

image

I was quite hot in this outfit..and I mean sweltering. It’s basically such weird weather right now…I’m so afraid of being cold after my Brighton nightmare that I’m wrapping up and then sweating in the 20 degree heat. But anyways..I mentioned a few weeks ago that my tights had become super uncomfortable and that I needed some maternity tights…and guess what? I bought some. Yeah I know…pretty exciting stuff.

image

I bought some from Mark’s and Spencer’s…40 denier for £6…that’s quite expensive but I always buy good quality marksys tights cos they don’t ladder right away…OR SO I THOUGHT. Today I laddered mine before I even left the house cos I don’t have a good nail file. But I digress….I would highly reccomend maternity tights…Primark do them too if you’re on a budget but they don’t last as long…they’re so great though..they have this cool panel for the big tummy…I haven’t taken a picture cos that’s quite an unattractive sight isn’t it?

image

So anyway obviously I’m not wearing just a pair of opaques..I’ve also got on my Topshop hot pink pencil skirt which is growing with me soooo well…I’ve worn this skirt for you a few times and I think I’ve shown how versatile it is..dress up…casual weekend…work skirt. Defo worth the 20 quid.

image

I’ve also got on a Zara wrap top that is actually my mum’s…I’ve borrowed it for the duration of my maternity….it’s great but now that I’ve seen these pictures I’m slightly concerned about the level of cleavage I had on show at work. Oh well…when you’re preggo people just accept it don’t they?

image

Got on my new Asos brogues and New Look silver backpack to finish the look…these were both amazing payday buys and I’ve already got loads of wears out of them..and I’ve only had them a week!

image

Comfy shoes and an easy bag are recommendations from me to you and backpacks are bang on trend too if I don’t say so myself. There was an article on it in the guardian! So it must be true.

image

And finally..baby Mr Jiggly has been kicking! It’s so amazing…I’ve been waiting so long for this and I LOVE IT. I mainly feel it when I wake up in the morning and it’s such a lovely way to start the day.

image

I’m 23 weeks now and they say you can feel the baby from 17 weeks so it’s been a long old wait.

And that’s that!

Share your maternity wear tips too please!

Brighton Rock and a Silver Backpack

So Dan and I went to Brighton for a day trip! Dan’s been checking the weather obsessively and yesterday was due to be the change we’d all been waiting for…Sun!

image

But obviously it gets a bit chilly on a the coast and it wasn’t going to be a scorcher so I attempted to dress appropriately.

This dress is a New Look one that was mine as a teenager in the ACTUAL 90’s! I found it in mum’s loft a few months ago and I love it. Added my Topshop denim jacket, my trusty Topshop boots and Monki sunnies. I wore minimal makeup and no jewellery cos you don’t want to look all dressed up when you’re mucking about at the seaside. I did add my new silver backpack from New Look. I love this bag! I’ve been getting so tired lugging about a heavy handbag so this should solve all my problems.

image

Cool huh?!

So off we went. We took all our camping gear in case the mood took us.

image

Had a lovely day knocking about..we googled “coolest place to get breakfast” on the way there and went to this amazing cafe on the seafront called “The New Club” …it was described as being quite “LA” and served coffee in glass tumblers and the staff looked like models and they served cocktails too. My kind of place! Although they didn’t seem to know what a cappuccino was. When it arrived I thought..oh they’ve made a mistake and brought me a latte..no foam! And I sent it back. But when they brought me a new one it was the same. Where’s the foam?! I don’t need your fancy milky patterns on top mate..I need foam!

image

Well, enough about that..I then spent the rest of the day freezing my nuts off and hoping to see an h&m so I could buy a wooly dress and some tights. Argh it was so cold.

We did see the bossy gay one off of gogglebox though!

image

But alas, I stuck it out..we finished the day with fish and chips and milkshakes in a weird cafe in Worthing and drove home..I totally misunderestimated how tiring the whole thing would be so camping was a no go.

image

And there you have it!
I’ll be honest, this weather is worrying me cos I don’t have any warm maternity gear and I’ve already spent my clothing allowance this month…tips? Do share!

Nautical But Nice

This weekend I got paid horray! Which means shopping time. Remember my shoe crisis? Well I’ve taken serious steps in resolving it. It may take some time to get there but we will; one STEP at a time.

image

Anyways I love my new brogues. They’re so comfy! And you can dress them up, dress them down..whatevs!

I got them on Asos for 25 quid which I think is a bargain.

image

Also picked up this new dress from Zara..it’s not maternity but it is stretchy so should be fine with my bump for a while. I hope! I don’t mind if I stretch it out though cos I can just consider it a maternity dress and then when I have the baby and I’m a fat lump, I can put it in a box marked “clothes I may fit into again” for about 2 years and then give it away.

It was also only 25 quid though which I think is really good. The material is good quality and it’s got a zip which equals expensive looking.

I actually had to wear tights today cos it was basically winter and wearing them made me think I need some maternity tights cos they sat quite uncomfortably on my tummy.

image

I added a necklace from Boots and glasses cos I still have a gammy eye ..I put on some red lipstick to make myself feel less frumpy..when I did my hair this way I thought..yeah! Jaunty! But I actually look a bit like a Chicago style hot dog; dragged through the garden. Nevermind.

image

I’m actually 22 weeks preggo tomorrow and I can’t believe how far I’ve come. I remember when I hadn’t even had my first scan yet and I saw someone on fb was 20 weeks and I thought wow they’re so cool! And it seemed so far away..now I’m there and then some..and now aspiring to be 30 weeks like when I met Suzy..Remember her?

In other news..we bought a house! Well, we had an offer accepted on one..I’m obsessed with looking at kitchens online.

And there you have it!
Catch you later…ps do you think I need a catch phrase?

London Wear: From work to a night at the theatre!

So today’s outfit of the day had to get me through a day of changeable weather, work and on to a night on the town!

image

I wore..what a surprise..black! I’m basically running low on clothes that are smart enough for work but still fit ..and that I can wear with flats. It’s a real challenge! The only flat shoes I have are black ankle boots, trainers and sandals. Couldn’t wear sandals yesterday cos of the buggering rain. Can’t wear trainers to work. Ankle boots it is! I’m basically having a shoe crisis. I read an article last week about shoes that are great for pregnant women. Apparently, absolute flats are a no no, as are heels. However, a 2 inch heel is perfect..the black leather Topshop boots I wear a lot are basically perfect. Those were the best investment I ever made. They’re great for both summer and winter and they’re super comfy AND they’re great for pregnant ladies! Best 70 quid I ever spent on a whim.

image

If you’re pregnant and don’t live in London you may not have the same issues as me but London life means lots of walking and standing so it’s so important to have a good range of comfy but stylish shoes.

So anyway, for this look I wore my trusty black jersey skirt from Asos that you’ve seen ten million times. I tucked in a black Zara top that I bought when I was in the early stages of trying to get preggo..which was about week long period cos I fell pregnant almost immediately. But yeah..I bought it cos it was very roomy and I thought oh this will be good for when I’m pregnant. And it is!

image

I wore black flat suede boots from Marks and Spencers. They’re super comfy and a bit different but i don’t wear them hardly enough.

image

I added my fave Topshop necklace,  Zara handbag and I was ready. I also had a really good hair day yesterday cos I recently found out that if I don’t wash it for three days= good hair.

image

For the evening portion I added matt finish red lippy (Kate moss for rimmel in Kiss of Life). Also, about halfway through the day my contact lens fell out and cos I’m super blind I had to put on my glasses so I looked intellectual for the play.

image

And what about the evening out I hear you ask?
Well, Dan and I met our good friends and newlywed couple Laura and James Dean for a drink (fizzy water and lime cordial for me, supplemented by 3 sips of Dan’s beer) and dinner. For dinner we went to Mishkins, this amazing AmericanJewish diner in Covent Garden. I tend to avoid Covent Garden like the plague cos it’s chain city and full of tourists, but if you’re going to theatreland there’s not much choice. But this place was great. It’s not kosher though if you’re Jewish! I had mac n cheese with salt beef and James Dean had a hot dog “dragged through the garden style”. Dan had a reubens sandwich which was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.

Then on to the Playhouse to see 1984..I’d recommend it, but our seats had restricted view which was annoying..and no interval..pregnant ladies need to urinate! Intervals needed! Also I haven’t read the book so I spent a lot of it confused. Read the book first.

I also couldn’t stop yawning and my eyes kept weeping cos they’re not used to having to much oxygen readily available (side effect of the glasses). Nights on the town are quite difficule for me. When we left I said what time is it? Thinking it felt like midnight. It was only half 9!

And there you have it!

A Wet Evening on the Southbank and a Hot Pink Skirt

This weekend Dan and I ventured out in the evening…shock! I haven’t really been out at nightime much recently cos I get so cripplingly tired. But off we went!

image

We had tickets to see Beyond Clueless, a sort of documentary about teenage life, using clips from teen films from the 90’s and early 2000’s. As I was a teen in the 90’s and early 2000’s and since I had seen almost every teen film I could get my hands on back then, I was ecstatic. Add in that the score was done by my favourite band Summer Camp and that they’d be doing this live for the screening at the BFI, and that’s basically a guarantee that I had to be there. Luckily the BFI has very comfy seats so my tiredness didn’t play too much of a factor on my enjoyment.

The film and band were amazing. The film featured clips from about 200 films and I hadn’t even heard of loads of them. I now have a mission. That mission is to watch them all!

image

In order to look the part for the film, I tried to 90’s it up. Most of my cool clothes don’t fit right now so I had to put together something quite makeshift..

Hot Pink body con maternity skirt from Topshop..black camisole top from Topshop also…denim jacket from…err…Topshop..and black leather boots from…Oh my gosh..TOPSHOP!

Wow I can’t believe my entire outfit was all from the same shop. How embarrassing. Oh no wait! I had a blue bag that I stole off my mum and that’s from Zara. Phew!

image

Anyways I had to wear the camisole top with a proper bra underneath..my preference would be a strapless one but that doesn’t fit. I had to sacrifice my style values! Call the fashion police!

Anyways. Watch Beyond Clueless! It’s really good.. probably only if you like teen movies from the 90’s though. Dad, you shouldn’t watch it.

20 Week Scan and Lounge Wear Special

So today was my 20 Week Scan at Kings Hospital. It’s my third scan cos I had an extra 17 Week one and today I had two; a cardio one and a normal one. I won’t go into why but they wanted me to have extra monitoring cos Kings are super hot on learning and research and checking for extra things other hospitals don’t both with.

Anyways, everything is fine but it means me and Dan are both a bit of bored of scans right now..when we came out of the cardio one he said he’s so bored of scans now cos they’re a strange mix of stressful and dull.

If you’re pregnant and haven’t had your scans yet let me tell you that they take ages and they’re quite uncomfortable when they press down on the bladder. A couple of times I’ve had to stop the scan halfway to go to the loo..someone told me to drink water before hand so your bladder is full..DO NOT DO THIS.

Anyways, at Kings, all the people here are research fellows and they’re ALL young hot sexy thin pretty ladies who wear expensive clothes and designer glasses and they’re all Spanish or Italian. It’s so weird! Why are they ALL like that? There are men too though and they’re also Spanish or Italian and youngish and wear designed glasses.

I think probably all doctors wear designer glasses though and expensive shoes. They’ve got loads of wonga haven’t they?

The other day I was on the tube and I noticed this young sexy lady asleep and I thought oo she’s got nice probably LK Bennett shoes on and then I noticed she had an ID badge on and I looked and she was a doctor and I thought yes of course! If you’re gonna wear heels to work when you’re a doctor they have to be expensive otherwise they would hurt. You can’t rush about all day in 25 quid courts from marksys.

Well, I digress. Just so you know I would really like a pair of LK Bennett courts but they’re over a hundred quid so that’s that I’ll never have any. Will I? Probably not. You can’t buy 100 quid shoes when you have kids can you.

That’s a sobering thought.

I’ve digressed again. From my digression.

So back to the scans!
The other thing I’ve noticed about the sexy research fellows is that they talk in really low whispery voices to each other and I really can’t understand how they hear. Plus there’s always an extra third person in the room that they don’t introduce and who loiters.
Also, what you don’t see in the movies is that they take loads and loads of photos of the baby and measure black wobbly blobs in what looks like quite a Willy nilly way.
Well here’s a picture of little Mr Jiggly (that’s his temp name)

image

Now onto lounge wear.
I’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to find comfy clothes to wear around the house. As soon as I get in I always get changed into “house clothes”..I’m assuming this is quite normal.

But my maternity shorts are NOT comfortable and all my leggings are too hot. But look what I found in the depths of my holiday clothes box! Harem pants!

image

I bought them about 2 years ago for a family holiday to Malta and I’ve worn them outside precisely two times. When I was thin they looked cool with chunky heels and a strapless top but now I look slightly house sized in them. But SO comfy and they’re massive! Will totally last til I’m big as a house and for my next holiday to Malta in October when I’ll be 7 months. I’ve been worried about this holiday cos I may be too big for most of my summer clothes but won’t want to buy more as summer will be over in the UK..well we’ll see.

image

In this last photo I was pretend reading a baby book for the shot but then the cat came for cuddles.

And there you have it!
Until next time…

Ps..thought this post was a bit light on pictures so here’s one of some juice and a selfie.

Weekend Style: Too Hot to Handle

Hi! I’ve named this post this because it’s actually really hot today and I’m boiling. But I love this dress cos it’s comfy, shows my bump really well, and it’s a bit 90’s. But I’ve been sweltering slightly.

image

The dress is from H&M from about 6 months ago and isn’t a maternity one but it’s jersey so stretches and grows with me. This is really a winter dress I suppose so hopefully I can wear it all the way through pregnancy.

image

I’ve worn it with Topshop flat boots that are slightly cowboy, slightly biker, very battered, VERY comfy, and look a bit 90’s too. Love 90’s!!

image

To go with the 90’s theme I’ve worn these cross earrings which were mine in the actual 90’s, and my fave Topshop necklace which might have been worn by me in the 90’s when I was obsessed with The Craft. But I couldn’t wear it then obvs cos it didn’t exist.

image

And to top it all off I got my hair cut at my mum’s local hairdressers so no more bad hair days!

image

Took the photo in front of my mum and dad’s front door cos they’re moving soon (boo boo), also I lived here ok the late 90’s so it sort of continues the theme.

image

Ok then, stay cool.
